For a long time, wood was associated mainly with traditional houses, rustic environments and interiors marked by a classic aesthetic. This reading, although understandable, is far from exhausting the possibilities of the material. In contemporary projects, wood can appear in unexpected geometries, dark or almost imperceptible finishes.<\/strong> You can warm up a space without making it heavy, organize a room without creating barriers, and add identity without dominating the architecture. <\/p>\n\n

The projects currently presented by Mofreita<\/a><\/strong> make this diversity particularly clear. Among houses, apartments, chalets, hotels and offices, wood does not appear as a repeated formula. In each case, the species, finish, proportion and relationship with the other materials respond to a specific need.<\/strong> The result is not a “wood style”, but a set of distinct languages, united by attention to detail and bespoke design.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

ONE MATERIAL, SEVERAL LANGUAGES<\/h3>\n\n

The contemporaneity of wood does not depend only on the choice of species. It is born, above all, from the way the material is designed and combined. The same oak can convey naturalness when it retains a clear grain reading, become discreet when it appears in simple volumes or gain a graphic expression when it receives a dark finish. Nordic pine, veneers, laminates, and lacquered surfaces further expand this vocabulary. <\/p>\n\n

At Chalet Saphir<\/a>, for example, wood naturally occupies a central place due to the Alpine context. Still, the bill avoids a purely traditional interpretation. The wood ensures warmth and continuity, while the design prevents the space from being stuck in a heavy or overly rustic image. <\/p>\n\n

On the other hand, in the Inama Paris<\/a> project, the expression is completely different. The remodeling of the office makes oak veneer a fluid element: shelves and furniture run through the space through curved lines, connecting work, storage and circulation. Lacquered colours introduce energy and contrast. Here, wood does not seek to evoke tradition; It works as a moldable material, capable of accompanying a creative professional environment and building its own visual identity. <\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

LIGHTNESS, LIGHT AND SIMPLICITY<\/h3>\n\n

One of the most persistent prejudices around wood is the idea that its presence makes interiors visually heavy. The Cavalaire, La Croix Valmer<\/a>, Marbeuf<\/a> and ADP15<\/a> projects demonstrate precisely the opposite. In all of them, wood is integrated into a composition dominated by light, light tones and simple lines. Its function is to add depth and comfort, not to occupy the entire visual field. <\/p>\n\n

In the Mediterranean villa of Cavalaire<\/a>, the architecture has been rethought to open up to the sea and natural light. Oak veneer appears on walls, doors, cabinets and furniture, but is constantly balanced by white, lacquered and laminated surfaces. Instead of competing with the landscape, wood creates points of continuity and brings the interior closer to a more natural materiality. The large light surfaces preserve the feeling of spaciousness; The oak volumes introduce rhythm and human touch. <\/p>\n\n

THE DETAIL THAT MAKES THE WHOLE COHERENT<\/h3>\n\n

Contemporaneity does not reside in a specific finish. It is in the coherence between matter, design and use. <\/p>\n\n

There is also a transversal characteristic: precision. Panel-lined doors, built-in storage, integrated lighting, material encounters and handles reduced to the essentials make wood feel like it belongs naturally in the space. This sense of simplicity is often the result of demanding technical work. The more integrated the solution, the less effort required to achieve it becomes visible. <\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

FAR BEYOND RUSTIC<\/h3>\n\n

Wood does not belong to a single style, context or typology. It can preserve the memory of an old house, accompany the brightness of a Mediterranean villa or soften a colourful office. It can take on its natural tone, be painted, stained or combined with lacquers, laminates, metals and stone. It can be the protagonist or remain almost silent. <\/p>\n\n

What defines the result is not only the material, but the intention with which it is used. When the choice of species and finish is born from architecture, when each piece is proportioned to the space and when the execution respects the detail, wood is no longer an automatic reference to the past. It becomes a contemporary tool: versatile, functional, sensorial and capable of giving identity to very different environments. <\/p>\n\n

Mofreita’s projects show exactly that.<\/strong> More than applying wood, it is important to understand space and transform the material into a tailor-made response. It is in this encounter between technical knowledge, design and architecture that wood reveals all its actuality. <\/p>\n\n
