Have you ever wondered how a piece of furniture is born? What is the production process, from the idea to the harmonization with the space, through its conception? How do you combine functionality, aesthetics and sustainability? Get to know the wood production process at Mofreita, on a journey that is always different and unique for each piece and/or project.
It all starts with a plan…
A drawing, an idea, an architectural project. This is how any production process in our factory begins. First, the proposal is budgeted, followed by the designers, after approval. They are responsible for transforming ideas and concepts into 3D modeling. Here, technique, aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand.
As such, in projects where it is necessary, a team travels to the site to take measurements, ensuring that every detail responds to the real and exact needs of the space. After all, every millimeter counts…

From the hands that draw to those that work with wood
After the design is approved by the customer, the processor comes into action , which translates the design language into the machine language, distributing the tasks among the different sectors of the manufacturing area. Carpenters also receive a “cutting list” where the dimensions of each piece that make up the final product are itemized, as well as the machines through which it will pass. Basically, it is a guide for assembly, a “recipe with all the ingredients”.
At the same time, carpenters have access to the complete model in software, being able to analyze every detail of the piece, during all phases of production.
What if any questions or errors arise? It is resolved together. Our designers and carpenters work side by side to find quick solutions, in a symbiosis between experience and innovation. After all, we have carpenters with more than 40 years in the company, whose knowledge continues to be an asset.
A factory that doesn’t know the expression “throw away”
During the process, all parts are labeled and identified. But Mofreita’s commitment goes beyond organization: nothing is thrown away here. We reuse all damaged or leftover parts from the cut as leftovers, “Creative Surpluses” or biomass to heat the carpentry shop in winter.
A sustainable philosophy that accompanies us at all times of production, reflecting respect for raw materials and nature.

The finishes before the start (of a new story)
Each piece of furniture is assembled and tested to ensure that everything is in compliance: drawers, shelves, gaps – nothing is left to chance. Only after all functionality, quality and durability are confirmed do the pieces receive the desired finish.
The last step? Packaging and shipment. The moment when each Mofreita piece continues its journey to transform spaces and bring projects to life.
We value what is ours, sharing it with the world
All the wood worked in the production process comes from suppliers in the region, reinforcing Mofreita’s commitment to the local economy and proximity to the origins.
And, in the end, these are the details that make the difference. It’s not just wood or a “pretty piece of furniture.” Each piece or project that comes out of our factory is a living testimony of the value of tradition, proximity and investing in what is ours, while giving stage to innovation and design. A signature that makes each Mofreita creation unique.
