As part of the Creative Surpluses project, Mofreita signed a protocol with the Portuguese Association of Parents and Friends of Citizens with Mental Disabilities (APPACDM) of Mirandela, through which its users will play an active role in the reuse of the factory’s surplus wood. Thus, the wood that was previously left over now gains a new purpose, transforming itself into creative and sustainable pieces.
Another step on the path to social and environmental responsibility
This collaboration reinforces Mofreita’s commitment to institutions dedicated to promoting the autonomy, participation and development of people with intellectual disabilities. In fact, by involving APPACDM users in the production process, the project contributes to their inclusion and valorization. Meanwhile, the waste of materials is reduced and the creative spirit is promoted.
Training session to integrate and empower
After the signing of the protocol, a training session was held where users were able to get to know the materials and learn essential techniques. This first contact marked the beginning of a partnership that brings together learning, creativity and social inclusion, preparing participants for the next stages of the project.
Direct social impact on local institutions
One of the most relevant dimensions of this protocol is its solidarity aspect: all the revenues from the sale of the pieces created by the users revert to the APPACDM of Mirandela, contributing to strengthen the mission of this social institution and support its daily activities.
Creativity that transforms resources – and lives
The Creative Surplus project combines environmental sustainability with human impact. In addition to the reuse of materials, the pieces are developed in collaboration with designers, artists and creatives, promoting an enriching experience for everyone involved.
Thus, with this partnership, Mofreita reinforces its purpose: to create value from what is left, transform resources responsibly and contribute to the construction of a more inclusive future.
