For 24 consecutive hours, innovation took the stage in carpentry, the result of the partnership between Mofreita and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB). On the 21st and 22nd of May, the company opened its doors to the Wood Box 2.0 Hackathon: Smart Processing, an initiative that challenged multidisciplinary teams to find intelligent solutions to the real challenges of the wood industry.
The Hackathon brought together about 20 participants with skills in the areas of production management, industrial management, budgeting and Artificial Intelligence, promoting a holistic and innovative approach to problem solving.

More than a competition, the Hackathon was designed as an immersive experience, where engineering, strategic management and Artificial Intelligence intersected in an intensive and collaborative work environment. The objective was to simulate the challenges of an industry in constant transformation, marked by the need for rapid adaptation, operational efficiency and responsiveness to increasingly demanding customers.

Throughout the event, the teams participated in intensive training sessions and quickly moved from theory to practice, developing concrete solutions to optimize the company’s internal processes. Between strategic analysis, technological development and creative thinking, the focus has always been on building smarter, more resilient and efficient processes, without compromising quality or profitability.
For Mofreita, initiatives like this reflect a vision that combines tradition and innovation. In a company where manual work, detail and experience continue to play a central role, technology emerges as a complement capable of optimizing processes, empowering teams and preparing for the future.
Because innovating is also part of the way we build.
